Back in control: Pharrell x Billionaire Boys Club

24 Jan

Music mogul and fashion icon Pharrell Williams recently repurchased the controlling interest in his Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream brands (BBC Ice Cream LLC) formerly owned by the Iconix Brands Group Inc. who held a 50% stake in the company. The hip hop inspired fashion line was originally launched in 2005 in collaboration with Japanese designer Nigo (founder of BAPE) and has flagship stores New York City, London, and Tokyo.

In case you didn’t know: Pharrell is no stranger to the fashion industry having already collaborated with the likes of Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Timberland, Moynat, Reebok, and Adidas. In addition he launched his first fragrance, a uni-sex scent Girl, with Japanese fashion house Comme des Garcons in 2014.

The purchase was made reportedly so that Williams can continue to expand the company and increase licensing opportunities for the brand. Next up? The company plans to launch a Billionaire Boys Club and Happy Socks collection in April, which will be sold exclusively at Neiman Marcus.

Here’s to a fresh start and what will likely be a dope collaboration!
