Kendrick Lamar x Billboard Magazine

“I’ve learned to deal with the responsibility of, you know, being someone that the kids actually look up to. I’ve learned to deal with that, you know and I’m always up for the challenge especially if it takes me doing what I do to actually make the next child a better person or grow up to be better than who I am and that’s why I put the pros and the cons in my music, you know, so you can understand that.”- Kendrick Lamar in his cover-story interview with Billboard magazine, on stands now.

Lamar recently received 11 Grammy nominations for his album To Pimp a Butterfly, surpassing Taylor Swift and The Weeknd, who both earned seven. Thus, also setting a new record for hip-hop artist with the most nominations in a year.

“The album just had a deeper impact than I expected, because it touched so many homes, and not just in my own community. I guess I’m just speaking words that need to be heard in these times.” The 2016 Grammy Awards will air live on Feb 15th.
